About Me
Hello, I’m Tabitha
My name is Tabitha and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. I have always enjoyed teaching; ever since I was thirteen, I have been involved in teaching in various ways. I started by teaching chess to primary school children and tutoring classmates. This inspired me to study Pedagogy and register as a private teacher.
I now have more than twelve years of teaching experience and have specialised in Dutch as a second language (NT2) for the past five years. What I find most rewarding is seeing my students gain confidence, start using their Dutch in everyday life, and discover that learning Dutch can actually be enjoyable.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy and a Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE). This combination gives me an understanding of both how people learn and how languages work. It allows me to explain Dutch clearly, break down difficult topics into manageable steps, and support students at every level.
Over the years, I have taught children, teenagers and adults from many different countries and backgrounds. I also have experience supporting learners with different learning needs, including dyslexia, autism, ADHD, giftedness and performance anxiety.
During my one-to-one online lessons via Microsoft Teams, there is plenty of room for your questions, your pace and your goals. Together, we set clear and achievable learning goals — whether you want to improve your general Dutch, prepare for inburgering, or work towards the Staatsexamen NT2. I then tailor each lesson to what works best for you.

In my lessons, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying out your Dutch. Learning a language can be challenging, so I create a warm and supportive atmosphere where you can practise without pressure and build your confidence step by step.
My one-to-one online lessons via Microsoft Teams usually include a combination of reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and pronunciation. I always tailor the content of the lessons to what you need most.

I enjoy working with course books from Boom publishers (Nederlands in gang, Nederlands in actie, Nederlands op niveau and Nederlands naar perfectie), but I am always happy to adapt the materials if you prefer to work with something else. I also like to add supplementary exercises and resources that match your interests and learning style.
